What to expect during your newborn session
Welcoming a new baby is one of life's most beautiful moments, and your newborn session is designed to preserve those tiny details you never want to forget. If you're wondering what a newborn session looks like, how to prepare, and how long it takes-this guide will walk you through everything you need to know so you can relax and enjoy the experience.
How Long does a newborn session take?
A full newborn session typically takes 3 hours. This allows plenty of time for:
*Feeding
*Diaper changes
*Soothing and cuddling
*Gentle Posing
Everything is done at baby's pace. There is no rushing, and breaks are always expected and welcomed. A calm, relaxed environment leads to the best images.
what happens during the session?
Your session will take place in my cozy, warm studio where your baby
s comfort and safety come first.
During the session, I'll guide everything:
*Soft, neutral, and timeless setups
*Wrapped poses, posed on posing pedestal with natural, baby-led positioning
*Parent and sibling images are also included
You don't need to worry about posing your baby- I handle all of that while ensuring your little one is safe, supported, and comfortable at all times.
How to prepare for your newborn session
*Feed baby right before leaving
*Arrive 15 minutes before your session time so we can start at our designated time
*Feel free to change into your outfits when you get to my studio
what to bring:
*Diaper bag essentials
*Pacifier (this is important for soothing)
*Extra bottles or formula
*Pump if you're pumping
*If you're nursing we will take as many breaks as baby needs.
*Change of comfy clothes for moms and dads as my studio can get very warm
*Water and snacks
(I do have light refreshments and snacks as well)
what to wear
*Stick to soft, neutral colors (creams, browns, whites, tans, beige, soft grey)
*Avoid bold patterns or logos
*Boho attire dresses well in my studio as well
I'm always happy to help with outfit guidance if you're unsure!
what if baby is fussy?
That's completely normal-and expected. Some babies sleep the entire session, others need a little more comfort. I've worked with many newborns and follow a baby-led approach, adjusting as needed to keep your little one calm and content.
Patience is key, and beautiful images come from allowing baby to be themselves.
safety first-always
Your baby's safe is my top priority. All poses are done with proper support, and composite images are used when needed. I am trained in safe newborn handling and never force a pose. If baby isn't comfortable, we move on-simple as that.
